Welcome to Albania!

Pick up your car from our rental partner near Tirana Airport between 2 pm and 5 pm. After a quick briefing, hit the road towards Berat.

Spend your first evening wandering through the streets of Berat and around its fortress before settling in for your first night in Albania.

After breakfast, you’ll explore the old town of Berat, known as “the city of a thousand windows”, with its white façades and Ottoman architecture.

History buffs can then step back in time at the Apollonia archaeological park, founded in the 6th century BC, where ancient ruins stand alongside medieval heritage.

Next, you’ll head to Vlorë, stopping at the Saint Mary Monastery before reaching the Albanian coast. For the more adventurous, this is where the day really takes off: enjoy a paragliding flight (if booked) over Vlorë and take in the sea and mountains from a whole new perspective.

Your day ends at a peaceful campsite in the countryside, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by nature.

After your night in the countryside, you hit the road again for a day full of discoveries along the Albanian Riviera.

First, you tackle the famous Llogara Pass, a spectacular road with beautiful views over the Ionian Sea. Its hairpin bends take you to an altitude of more than 1,000 metres!

Next, you discover two of Albania’s most beautiful beaches: Dhërmi Beach, with its crystal-clear waters, followed by Gjipe Beach, a hidden gem nestled between the cliffs.

In the afternoon, you stop at Porto Palermo Castle, a triangular fortress overlooking the sea and a reminder of the region’s military history.

Finally, you head to Ksamil, where you settle in for the night.

Your fourth day begins in the heart of the Butrint Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This remarkable historic site takes you on a journey through more than 2,500 years of history, from an ancient theatre to a Byzantine baptistery.

In the afternoon, you’ll head to the Blue Eye, a deep-blue spring hidden in a lush green forest.

Your day ends in Gjirokastër, a museum city known for its stone rooftops, imposing fortress and traditional houses. You’ll spend the night just outside the city.

On day five of your adventure, you leave the museum city of Gjirokastër to discover another part of the region’s history.

You’ll start with Ali Pasha’s aqueduct, an impressive 18th-century structure that showcases Ottoman engineering. Then it’s on to Përmet, a charming town nestled among the mountains.

In the afternoon, it’s time for some action if you’ve booked rafting: a great way to get even closer to the Vjosa River as you ride its rapids. If not, don’t worry. The river is also perfect for a swim at various points along its course.

The day ends at a peaceful campsite close to the Greek border.

On day six of your trip, you’ll head to Korçë, a cultural city known for its unique architecture and bohemian atmosphere.

After strolling through its picturesque streets, you’ll continue to Pogradec, on the shores of Lake Ohrid. One of Europe’s oldest lakes, this tectonic lake is a magical setting for the end of your day.

Spend the evening by the lake, taking in the peaceful beauty of the surrounding landscape.

On your last full day in Albania, start by enjoying the morning tranquillity of Lake Ohrid and its shimmering waters.

In the afternoon, head back into the buzz of Tirana. If you feel like exploring the Albanian capital, you can visit Skanderbeg Square, its museums or its lively cafés.

For your final evening, the choice is yours: stay in a comfortable hotel or spend your last night at the campsite by the lake, where you can go for a swim and even sample the owners’ homemade wine and raki! It’s the perfect chance to look back on all the highlights of your road trip through Albania.

Sadly, it’s time to head home. Return your car between 8 and 10 a.m. at the same place where you picked it up.
